Summers, Fitness and them Jeans…!

Summers are here and you have been waiting to wear your favourite jeans from the closet which you couldn’t wear because of the tantalizing winters. Why? Because you gained some and it got stuck in your glutes. Damn. So agonizing. Isn’t it? Took the new year resolution – “Kal se Gym shuru”. And yes, you finally started and you are doing great with each passing day. Immensely impressed by the way you are lifting. The motivation is still holding its grip and the jeans are still lying in the closet.

With each passing day, you’re setting different goals and complexes for many others. For many, the summer months signify a time of carefree living but for some, it’s the sweating out the season. Summer is the season you exercise for, but now that it’s here, how do you keep your fitness routine in check without collapsing from the heat? And also you have that strong grit to fit yourself in your favourite jeans. You’re doing great. You’re almost there to continue to hustle hard, have fun and abide by these 5 things to beat the heat, to keep up with your fitness challenge, after all, it’s about your favourite jeans. Wink*.

  1. Alright, fellas, take it easy on the booze– I know it’s the season of a couple off to a number of beers. They are not adding any nutrients in your body and unfortunately full of calories. They are empty diet-destroying calories. Try keeping some money in your favourite jeans so that you don’t spend enough on chilling.
  2. Stay hydrated– This is a very common aspect of human existence. It is the elixir of life. Then why not drink like a fish. Staying hydrated will help keep your metabolism humming but it can also prevent you from overeating. Dehydration often masks itself as hunger, leading you to eat when you don’t really need to. So, please DRINK (Water), not the one you’re thinking.
  3. Schedule your workouts– I know it gets boring to lift those weights again and again (it gives results). You can break your workouts into different segments to bring a little fun and variation into them. Like, take yoga one day, another day go for a swimming (a popular way to stay cool in the summers), Zumba etc. etc… Few ways of beating the heat and getting fit and about to get fit in your favourite jeans.
  4. Eat-Eat-Eat – Summer is one season where we don’t paunch enough because of the heat. But, make sure to eat in the morning. Have a nice, big, healthy meal before you leave the house so you don’t find yourself having to resort to fast, cheap food outside. And this will also prevent you from eating out of pure boredom and also think about the fact that you’ll get fit in your favourite jeans.
  5. Stay focused even when you don’t want to work out– I’m too tired today, not feeling like going to the gym. No problem. Stay focused. Stay motivated. Don’t eat junk when hungry. Take the stairs if you’re going for some grocery shopping. Don’t get yourself barbecued in the hottest hour of the day. Eat iron-rich food like fortified cereals, spinach, radish, cucumber etc.

These are my 5 important takeaways to beat the scorching heat. And I’m sure it will be beneficial for you too. Think about your fitness. Think about your favourite jeans. Think about your happiness
